idrive Garage Door Opener Light Mod IdeasAs I opened the garage door this morning, the garage door light-bulb came on. This automated light is handled by the idrive's Security Light with Diffuser. It's very cool, because it's wirelessly activated. Therefore, you can place it anywhere you want. It doesn't even have to be in your garage. So as I walked to my car, I thought, "Today's bright an sunny. It's an aweful waste to turn on the light-bulb during day time. It'd be nice if the Security Light has a photo-sensor on it so that it only turns on during the night. Idea #1: Get photo-sensor adapter from Home Depot or Lowes. Screw it in between the Security Light fixture and the light-bulb. This idea is easy to do, but it brings up a problem that's been plaguing the back of my mind. The diffuser for the Security Light is only big enough for an incandescent light-bulb. With this photo-sensor adapter, you won't be able to use the diffuser. The Security Light will be a bright spot. The problem reminds me of idea #2, which I tried long ago. Idea #2: Replace the incandescent light-bulb with an equivalent fluorescent light-bulb. I tried idea #2. The 100-watt equivalent fluorescent light-bulb (26 watts) is too big for the diffuser. Without the diffuser, it is a bright spot for the driver as you pull into the garage. Eventually, I'd like to make both idea work. But don't have a good solution yet. You have any suggestions? Chieh Cheng
