Infantino SlingRiderOur baby girl, a 1 and 1/2 month newborn, loves to be cradled in our forearms. Whenever we put her down, she cries and screams until we cradle her. That becomes problematic when we want to get some work down. At our recent visit to Babies "R" Us, we found the SlingRider made by Infantino. The SlingRider is a cloth sling that wraps around your shoulder, which allows you to carry your baby by your stomach with both of your arms free. We thought this might be a nice product to help us free our hands. So we brought the SlingRider home with us to try it out. After unpacking the SlingRider and adjusting it to length, I put our baby into it. She screamed and kicked. Apparently she didn't like it. We took her out. At a later date, we tried again. This time she seems ok with it until she started looking side to side. The side of the SlingRider is covered with black mesh cloth. Although breathable, it's not possible to see through it. Our baby kicked and screamed again until we took her out of the SlingRider. It seems that our baby really likes to look around and see the "scenery" while being cradled. So the SlingRider is no go. The puff pillow handle that came with the SlingRider box, on the other hand, seems quite useful. Last night, I was able to use the curved foam pillow as a cradle for the baby formula bottle, while the baby fed. I still watch over her feeding with the bottle, but at least I won't have to hold the bottle the entire time. Chieh Cheng
