How to Deal with Gophers in Your Yard

Gophers can be difficult pests to get rid of. It's a pain dealing with gophers in your backyard, especially when they start to destroy your foliage, plants and flowers. Gophers can borrow under your pipes and get into your gardent and flowers in a very short time period. If you are wishing to get rid of these animals there are a few ways to do so.

You can get bait traps at your local hardware store. This offers you a way to get rid of them. This requires a lot of work and time. You need to make sure you have a garden hose to use and chicken wire and you must dig a trench.

Gophers are a gardener's worst nightmare! They can wreak havoc on your entire yard. To deal with them it's best to keep them out of the way. You can deal with them by encouraging predatory birds to hunt in your gardens. These type of birds could be owls and hawks that you draw to your yard. You can fill bowls to get birds to come around. Make sure you keep the water in the air so that other animals don't get to the water. Make sure to keep your yard fairly clean so that the birds can easily find the gophers. You can also leave your pets outside to hunt down the gophers. Cats are great predatory animals as are dogs.

It may also be a good idea to dig around the area you want to protect and put fencing in the soil to try to keep gophers out. Or you can also put into the ground hardware cloth in the soil to discourage the gophers from building their tunnels in your yard. If things become too intense and threatening you can go to the extreme of hiring a pest control service. The best idea is probably planting beds and installing root-protectors. You can even use chicken wire to do it. Gophers are a threat to your yard, but if you put in effort you can attack the problem successfully.
