Editing Remote Text Files with ES File ExplorerOne really nice thing about the ES File Explorer on Android is that you can use it to edit remote text files on your network server. In that regard, it is like WinSCP on Windows, which is very handy. But ES File Explorer treats some text files differently, create some inconsistencies. Everything is fine if you open a text file with "txt" extension. ES File Explorer opens it as a remote text file, lets you edit it, and saves it back onto the server. But if you try to open a text file with "html" extension, ES File Explorer does something entirely different. It downloads the HTML file to your local storage, lets you edit it, but saves it back to your local storage. Your edit never reaches the remote server. The trick to get ES File Explorer to work right isto open everything you want to edit as a "text" file. On ES File Explorer 3.0.7.0, you can do that by long tapping on the file you want to edit, tap "More", tap "Open As", then tap "Text". In that manner, ES File Explorer opens it as a text file on the remote server, never bringing it over to the local storage. Mel
