Could not authorize you against Realms server: Invalid session id

Tried to play Minecraft with my kids on our local network server today. But my Windows installation had a new launcher. Launcher looks pretty nifty. It's version 2.0.760. But with anything new, it foreshadows potential problems.

After trying to connect to server, I get "Failed to connect to the server. Internal Exception: .java.lang.NullPointerException". See screen shot below.

The server log is probably just as cryptic. I get the following error message:

[16:04:56] [Server thread/INFO]: com.mojang.authlib.GameProfile@282a92ca[id=,name=FidoMushu,properties={},legacy=false] (/192.168.1.36:62279) lost connection: Disconnected

The new client launcher has some new settings... including the "Open output log when the game starts". I did that and see the following error message:

16:10:53 com.mojang.realmsclient.client.RealmsClient Could not authorize you against Realms server: Invalid session id

Ok. Now we are getting a little further. What's happening? Why can't my game client authorize against Realms server???

Ok. Problem solved. I had to log out of the new launcher and re-log back in. Once I did that I was able to get into the local server without any problems.
