"Access is Denied" with Windows SP3 UpdatedFor a few weeks now, Windows Update on my notebook computer kept prompting me to install the new Service Pack 3. But every time I try to update Windows, it reports that "Access is Denied" at the end of the process. Finally, I did a search on this problem and Microsoft even presents the trouble-shooting guide in its When you try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3, you receive the error message "Access is denied" or "Service Pack installation did not complete" article. I have gone through all the steps, but it's the last one, which asks you to reset the registry and permissions on files, that finally did the trick. Attached below is the "Reset.cmd" that the article asks you to create. I've attached below for your convenience. Just make sure you install the SubInAcl.exe from the Microsoft article first.
