Disable Windows Messenger on XP StartupMicrosoft wants everyone to use Windows Messenger for instant messaging. Therefore, Windows Messenger automatically starts up in the background when Windows XP and Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs boot. To disable Windows Messenger from starting up, you'll have to modify the Windows Registry. There is an easier way. I've made it easy for you. I have attached the registry modification script that would disable Windows Messenger on startup. Download the registry file and apply it to your Windows system to disable Windows Messenger from starting up. Once you double-click the file, Windows XP will ask, "Are you sure you want to add the information in xxxx to the registry?", where xxxx is the file path. Click the "Yes" Button to enable auto-login. The process is complete when you see the following Windows message: "Information in xxxx has been successfully entered into the registry." Chieh Cheng
