idrive - Garage Door Goes Up But Won't Come Down

I don't know about "deceptive Chamberlain Internet marketers", but I can tell you from personal experience that we've had our WD idrive for about 4 years and I'm not impressed. The unit was originally installed by a WD professional installer along with the 20' WD garage door we had purchased. Since the original install the entire unit has been replaced once already (again by a WD prof. installer) and the circuit board on the second install has also been replaced once. I made the decision to purchase this unit and had it installed when the house was built.

Currently the door will go up, but not down. When the door is in the up position and the button is depressed, the light will come on and the motor will start to spin. It sounds like the gears aren't catching, but rather grinding over one another and the door never moves. After about 3 - 4 seconds the motor stops spinning (and the gears stop grinding) and there are 4 beeps followed by a single chipping sound. I can wait about 20 - 30 seconds and depress the button again, only to get the same results.

I'm at a point now where I'm prepared to call on a professional WD installer one last time to fix, or once again entirely replace the system. I'm running out of patience and money on this venture, so this will be my final attempt to remain a WD idrive customer. If anyone has any thoughts or input I would be happy to entertain them.
