Freeing the idrive motor from the shaftMy current problem is that I can not get the drive motor free from the shaft. Pulling the release cable does not free the motor. I backed the detent pin all the out so I can move the motor, but it only moves with the shaft. I got into this predicament after replacing the springs. I want to move the black follower gear further to the left before I activate the system, but I have to get the motor freed from the shaft in order to do that. I can not lift the door manually with the stuck motor. Any suggestions? Jim Just loosen the two gears, on both sides of the idrive, that are attached to the torsion bar from the idrive. Then you can rotate the idrive independently from the torsion bar. Chieh Cheng I certainly appreciate the info on this site and the reply to my questions. I have attached two pics of my idrive. Loosening the two gears --- I don't understand unless you are talking about the tension gears on the ends of the torsion bar. Jim I have attached a second pic. The door is in the closed position, the motor is down, but still locked to the torsion bar. Pulling the release cable does not release the motor. I ran it through a programing phase twice, and the door did nor return down on the second cycle. I was able to force the door down by jerking on it numerous times. Jim I am beginning to think that we are talking about two different products. The one I'm talking about is the idrive for torsion springs like the one shown in the attachment below. It has two large gray wheels (gears) at the end that I'm talking about. Chieh Cheng If you don't have those great big wheels, then I'm guessing you have the idrive for TorqueMaster as shown in the photo below. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the TorqueMaster version other than that they exist. Chieh Cheng Yes, I have an idrive for TorqueMaster. I have learned a lot from this forum, even if it was not for the TorqueMaster. Thank you. I will keep trying. Jim Well I got it unstuck. I took the idrive down (with the torsion bar), removed the motor and circuit board, and rapped the right angle support bracket several times with a dead blow hammer. I had to drive the idrive a couple inches along the torsion bar before it broke free. Then I didn't have a problem sliding it off the bar. Jim Great to hear that you got the idrive off! Were you able to move the black gear to the left and put the system back into service? Chieh Cheng I have had the idrive up and down several times. replaced a motor and a circuit board --- just had enough. I replaced it with a Liftmaster 3255 chain drive. I don't like giving up, but .... Jim
