Samsung Intercept Battery Works in Google Galaxy NexusJust received the Google (Samsung) Galaxy Nexus in the mail today. It's quite a gigantic phone. Upon inserting its battery, I noticed that it looks very similar to the Samsung Intercept battery. I stack the two battery together and they are quite similar in size. The Galaxy Nexus battery is a bit wider than the Intercept battery. But the height and thickness are practically identical. The Galaxy Nexus battery has four electrical pins, while the Intercept battery has three electrical pins. The positive and negative contacts are in the same location and spaced identically apart. Google Galaxy Nexus Battery Spec: Samsung Intercept Battery Spec: The Intercept battery fits snuggly in the Galaxy Nexus when the electrical pins are aligned correctly. It powers up the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy Nexus charges it when plugged in. It's really quite awesome that I now have some spare batteries for the Galaxy Nexus. Mel I found out today that the Galaxy Nexus battery has the Near Field Communication (NFC) functionality. So if you use the Intercept battery, you are obviously not going to have NFC. But that is not so bad unless you really need NFC. I am using the Intercept battery right now on the Galaxy Nexus to type this message. Mel Now why would Samsung build the NFC function into the battery. That really baffles my mind. Maybe Samsung wants you to buy their expensive battery? I am guessing the fourth extra electrical connector is for the NFC. Mel Photo of Samsung Intercept battery in the Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus ... Mel Dropped my Galaxy Nexus today. I had the smaller Intercept battery in it. So it shifted on impact. Not a big deal, but it could potential bend the electrical contacts. I figure stuffing a small bundle of toothpicks in the empty space would prevent the unwanted motion. But I didn't have any toothpicks. Luckily I had a few new Clinere Ear Cleaner sticks that seem to fit the bill just right. I cut off the two ends (see photo below). Mel It is made out of wax-like plastic, which made it really easy to shave with a utility knife. A little shave here and a little shave there made it fit perfectly in the battery bay (see photo below). Mel Attached photo shows the pin difference between the two batteries. Mel Certified samsung user!, Thanks for sharing, I will definitely Use this! Chad Brinkle
