Samsung Galaxy Nexus Doesn't Support USB Mass StorageI was really surprised when plugging the Samsung Galaxy Nexus into the computer for the first time. Rather than the familiar "USB Mass Storage" app from Android 2.2 when I pull down the USB notification, I got the "USB computer connection" screen. This screen provides two options:
Neither mode allowed me to transfer files on the Mac I happened to plug the SmartPhone into. On the other hand, Windows seems to work with the MTP mode as if it is a USB mass storage device. I haven't tried Android File Transfer on the Mac yet. But USB mass storage is such a simple standard that works on all operating systems for the past few years. Why couldn't they have stuck to that?
