Cellphone Stereo Headphone and Microphone Jack

Mobile phones are really advanced nowadays. You can not only make phone calls, you can sure the web (I'm typing this entry on the Samsung A900M), shoot photo, watch video, and listen to music. In order to provide stereo sound and a single channel microphone input, the 2.5mm audio jack has 4 contact pins rather than thd standard 3. How is this detail important?

Well, when you can play music on your phone, the next logical step is to connect it to your stereo, your audio recorder, your computer, and your car. But how if the audio jack is not standard?

So first trial, plugging a set of computer stereo speakers into the A900M using a standard stereo 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter produced music on the right channel speaker. I was quite happy to hear Gwen Stefani's "The Sweet Escape" over the Sprint Music Channel. But I want to hear the left channel as well.
