AconData E5 external HD question

Hi there,

Stumbled across your GearHack posts about the Acomdata 500 gb external harddrive and the Fantom drive. I have a Acomdata drive and the power supply has died. The unit gets warm when plugged in but the LED on the transformer does not light up and there is no power to the drive. Do you know if it is possible to get just the power supply from somewhere?

Also reading your posts about the Acomdata drive it is not possible to just remove the drive from the enclosure and recover the data in another enclosure.

Thanks for any information

You might be able to get the power supply on eBay. It seems that a lot of hard drive enclosures use the same power supply. Maybe you can get another external drive with the same power supply.

You are right about not being able to recover your data in another enclosure. However, if you are able to get the same enclosure, then you can do the swap and get the data out that way.
