Twitter Phone Verification Doesn't Work

When I logged onto my Twitter account today, I got the following message:

Enter verification code.
We are calling ########## with a verification code. Enter that code below.

My phone rang and I picked it up. Twitter's automated system read me a 6-digit code loud and clear. But when I entered it on its web page, I got the following message:

Something went wrong.
Due to a technical issue, we couldn't complete this request. Please try again.

This happened to me last night and it happened to me tonight again. I can't access my Twitter account. Anyone have any ideas?
