Stick to Firefox 2.0 on Older, Lesser Memory ComputersWhen Firefox 3.0 first came out, I was excited to try it. After all, Firefox 2.0 had ran beautifully on my Sony VAIO PCG-N505VX SuperSlim notebook computer. This netbook-sized computer came out in the 90's and composed of a 350 MHz processor with maximum 128 MB of RAM. I figured that Firefox 2 ran so speedily on it, why not Firefox 3? Big mistake. After using Firefox 3.0 for only fifteen minutes, the hard disk would start thrashing. Sometimes the computer should be un-responsive until the Firefox 3 stops chewing on the hard drive. I can only imagine that the computer ran out of free RAM and was swapping virtual memory. I have used this computer with Firefox 3 for six months. Finally, today, I have uninstalled Firefox 3 today, and reinstalled Firefox 2. Now my super-small-sized computer is running happily again without feeling like it's a decade old. Chieh Cheng
