Internet Connection Sharing is Crippleware192.168.0.1 is the IP address Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) sets your computer to if you enable it on Windows XP. But that is completely undesirable if you already have a home network set up. It is likely that all your home computers are not on the 192.168.0 network. To have to change each computer on your home network to that subnet and to change each one to use the gateway at 192.168.0.1 is a tedious task that no one cares to perform. A network server should be configurable So that it can be inserted transparently to the computers on the network. This problem happened to me a few days ago when my FIOS router's power supply blew up. I needed to insert a windows network address translation (NAT) server in its place. But that proved to be impossible when ICS tried to set the server IP address to 192.168.0.1. I ended up just waited for a new router to arrive. Anyone know a Windows NAT software that doesn't have this limitation? Chieh Cheng
