Got Spam After Using Email on This SiteI received spam on an e-mail address known only to this site (gearhack) and to my provider of disposable e-mail addresses. The list of disposable e-mail addresses I use takes up more than 90 kB and I receive spam on very few of them, so I have no reason to suspect my provider of disposable addresses. So, the evidence pretty well indicates that a spammer obtained the address from your site somehow. Jack Waugh If you posted your e-mail address on this site, or, as a matter of a fact, on any site, it's a guarantee that your e-mail address will be scraped by bots for spamming purposes. This is an old and well known technique on the Internet. Search for "scrapping email addresses off web sites" for more information regarding this topic. For example, you used "[email protected]" in your message above, therefore, it's a guarantee that this e-mail will be scraped at some point in the future. That is one reason e-mail is not a mandatory field when posting comments on this site. Please keep that in mind. Bottom line is if you post your e-mail publicly online some where, it will be scrapped and spammed. Mel
