Get Around "Torrentspy Acts to Protect Privacy"

A lot of users on my Camera Hacker web site are looking for Sakar's digital camera drivers. Unfortunately, Sakar simply doesn't provide some of those driver online due to their size, even though they will provide it off-line at request (see Sakar FAQ). So I started wondering how digital camera users can share their digital camera drivers without sending an e-mail request to Sakar.

That's when I thought of BitTorrent. I wondered whether Sakar digital camera device drivers are already on torrents. So I went to do a search at TorrentSpy . . . only to be greeted by the following message:

Sorry, but because you are located in the USA you cannot use the search features of the Torrentspy.com website. Torrentspy's decision to stop accepting US visitors was NOT compelled by any Court but rather an uncertain legal climate in the US regarding user privacy and an apparent tension between US and European Union privacy laws.

Great! Just because there are a few bad apples out there, they decided to close their site to all US folks, even for legitimate purposes. Where is this world coming to?

Anyway, there is an easy and simple way to get around that. Simply get onto an anonymous proxy that is out side the United States and you can search TorrentSpy just fine. One oversea anonymous proxy I found is "the cloak". Using the cloak, I was able to do all the search I wanted.

And the answer to my original question is that Sakar digital camera device driverss aren't on any torrents. Maybe Sakar should start thinking about distributing their device drivers through torrents.
