DNS Server Destination Host Unreachable IntermittentI don't know what's going on with my network today. But starting in the afternoon, my Internet goes in and out. At first I have thought that it was my computer. But after fussing with it all evening, I see that once I connect to a service on the Internet, the connection stays connected even if the DNS server is inaccessible. That shows my Internet connection is up. But why do I fail to reach the DNS servers? I tried several different DNS servers (4.2.2.4, 4.2.2.5, and 8.8.8.8). They all exhibited the same symptom. So far, I had checked out my LAN and there seems to be no problem on the LAN. So now I'm wondering if this is a problem on the Internet. How do I determine that? Boo Oh yah... I've been watching ping all night. I would be able to ping the DNS servers for a while. Then all of a sudden, it's "Destination host unreachable". After a while, the ping would go through again. Boo Ok. Have more data on the symptom now. Once a connection is established, the connection will continue to work. For example, if I have a SSH session with a remote server, then I can still use the remote connection while this problem occurs. When the network problem occur, I can't ping any outside server. And outside server cannot ping my gateway. What could be the cause of this problem? Boo
