Apple Safari 4I recently downloaded Apple Safari 4 both on my work computer and my home computer. The “Top Sites” feature this upgrade launches with was a cool new interface, both in function and style. I was very excited to see this new feature when I first started using Safari 4; however, for me the newness wore out quickly and became more of a nuisance and I turned the feature off in my preferences. This is just a personal preference, though, as I have always preferred my browsers to launch with blank pages. The application is definitely noticeably faster on both my work computer (Leopard OS) and home laptop (Tiger OS). Unfortunately it has crashed a half dozen times already on the Tiger OS while browsing various sites. The slight change in the locations of certain features – such as the tabs and refresh key – have taken a little getting used to but are quickly becoming second nature. Never a fan of Firefox, I am pleased with how well the new Safari works on CSS and HTML5 sites. For the most part, I have to say my transition to Safari 4 has been an easy one and I have already recommended the downloaded to a number of my Mac user friends. Jody
