Windows 7, does it run well on Atom?

Everyone is all excited about the new Windows 7. Slimmed down, faster, that amazing new taskbar and better boot-time. I think that the real question is whether or not it will run well on netbooks with an atom processor. Who doesn't love the portability of all these little netbooks? One of the problems with the netbooks are that they either run outdated Windows XP or a Linux distrubution that most people just simply aren't familar with.

If Windows 7 does turn out to be optimized for the Atom processors we really will have entered "a race to the bottom." I consider this to be great news for most casual computer users. In my experience at least half of all the computer users out there are running overwpowered machines anyway. People buy fast and flashy machines and then they just use word-processors and web-browsers. The only reason they think they need the faster machine is cause they have so much bloat and malware eating up ram and processor power. It seems that Microsoft have listened to their customers at last.

The user interface of Windows 7 is very much like Vista which some will love and some will hate. Personally, I really liked the interface of Vista, it's easy on the eyes and still works like i'm used to. If I could get a netbook preloaded with Windows 7 where everything ran smoothly and i could install my specialized salary administration applications I would get one, nay I would probably get two.

Please feel free to comment and tell me about how Windows 7 is running on your Atom powered device.
