Bauer 20V Power Tool Pin-Out

The following photo is the pin-out from the 20V Cordless 5" Random Orbital Sander with Dust Bag. The tool interface to both TH and ID pins on the battery.

The following photo is the pin-out from the Bauer 20V Brushless Cordless Variable Speed Compact Router. As you can see, it also interfaces to the two middle pins on the battery.

Inside of a Battery Adapter

We purchased the Black & Decker 20V MAX Battery Pack to Bauer 20V Power Tool Adapter on Amazon.

The photo above shows the pin-out on the battery adapter. Only the B+ pin, the TH pin, and the B- pins are connected. Then we took it apart to see what's inside.

Inside the adapter, there is a very simple surface-mount circuit board (see photo below). It consists of a single surface-mount resistor--1002--that ties the B- pin to the TH pin.

Using the Online calculator - 4 digit SMD resistor, we determine that the 1002 resistor provides 10 kilo-ohms resistance.

Note that the adapter uses 14 gauge wires (see photo above). So if you are to wire up your own battery source, you'll probably want to use 14 gauge wires as the minimum thickness.
