Dominion Map Layout (Crystal Scar)One of the questions a first time player asks in a Dominion game is "Where is the boneyard?" That's because the game announces the tower captured and lost throughout the game. First time players have no idea that the top left capture point is the refinery and the top right capture point is the drill. This page shows the Crystal Scar Dominion map layout for League of Legends (LOL). It's imperative for new players to study this map layout and knows all of the control points by name. Because these locations are called out during the fast paced Dominion game, players will have no time to figure where these locations are in game. Blue BaseThe circular platform on the left side of the map is the blue team starting location. It's conveniently located close to the refinery and the quarry capture points. The big crystal next to the round platform is the Nexus. Champions cannot attack the Nexus directly. The only way to destroy the other team's Nexus is by holding capture points until the enemy's score is depleted. Purple BaseThe circular platform on the right side of the Crystal Scar is the base for the purple team. It's nearest to the drill and boneyard capture points. The big crystal next to the round platform is the Nexus. Champions cannot attack the Nexus directly. The only way to destroy the other team's Nexus is by holding capture points until the enemy's score is depleted. BoneyardThe boneyard, southeast (bottom right) of the map, will be captured by the purple right at the start of the game, because it's right next to the purple base. DrillThe drill, northeast (top right) of the map, is tower captured early by the purple team, due to its closeness to the purple base. QuarryThe quarry, southwest (bottom left) on the map, is an easy capture by the blue team at the start. RefineryThe refinery, northwest (top left) on the map, will be captured by the blue team right off the bat. WindmillThe windmill is the only capture point centered on the map at the top. Therefore, it's likely to be battled over by the two teams at the start of the game. The team that holds this point the longest is likely the winning team. Health RelicsUnintuitive to its name, symbol, and color, the health relic not only provides your champion with an instant burst of health, but also mana. Greater Relics (Storm Shield)Great relics are located in the center of the Dominion map. Much like acquiring capture point towers, the champion needs to spend some time channeling with the relic to acquire it. Once acquired, it provides a powerful bonus for assaulting fortified capture points. The greater relic provides a single champion a personal shield (Storm Shield) and improves periodic damage on attack and abilities. The actual improvements includes the following shield characteristics:
Unlike other buffs on the map, there are two greater relics; one for each team. It's not possible to capture other team's relic. The greater relics spawns at 3:00 minutes into the game (note that the gate to the bases open at 1:20). To keep your team at maximum efficiency, your team should be capturing this relic as soon as it spawns. Speed ShrineUnlike other buffs in League of Legends (LOL), speed shrine buffs will not disappear after being acquired by a single champion. It's on the map the whole time and multiple champions can gain this speed boost at the same time. Fog of WarThe fog of war covers the entire jungle area, except for the center, where greater relics reside. It also covers the two bases. However, the circular ring path of the five capture points is revealed at all times in the game, allowing both teams to see enemy champions on this path at all times. Related Links
