Wired Comparison

For reference, the following results are from a desktop computer that is connected to the network via a 100 Mbps ethernet cable.

Result 1: (connected directly to FIOS modem)

Download Speed: 19253 kbps (2406.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 4585 kbps (573.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Result 2: (connected to WNR834B then to FIOS modem)

Download Speed: 19270 kbps (2408.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 4524 kbps (565.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

LAN Comparison

In this test, I transfered "Sugar on a Stick v2 Blueberry (0.86.3).iso" (603,136 KB) between the wired desktop computer and the wireless-N netbook. Desktop computer was running Windows Vista, while the netbook was running Windows 7. Netgear WNR834B was configured with no encryption.

Operation 130 Mbps 270 Mbps
Desktop initiate transfer to netbook ~7.6 MB/s ~6 MB/s
Netbook initiate transfer from desktop ~6.75 MB/s ~5.75 MB/s
Desktop initiate transfer from netbook ~5.5 MB/s ~7.25 MB/s
Netbook initiate transfer to desktop ~4.75 MB/s ~7.25 MB/s
