Magic Tracks - Cars Jump Track

Bought the Magic Tracks play set for my son a few days ago. We put brand new alkaline batteries and the cars go so fast they jump out of the track. I used NiMH rechargeables to slow them down a bit, but they still jump the track. Only when the batteries are almost out do they stay in the track. What are your experiences with the Magic Tracks?

My granddaughter received these for Christmas and the cars won't stay on the track no matter what we do. Piece of junk....very disappointing!!
