Marking Electrical Specification on Your Gadgets

Most electronic gadgets comes with a switching power supply AC adapter to plug into the wall. I hate it when some of these gadgets do not show the electrical specification of its power input. That's because over the years, I've gathered tons of gadgets and their associated power supplies. I have a drawer full of switching power supplies. And when I pick up a gadget, I expect to match the electrical specification on it to a power supply in my drawer. But I can't when there is no specification.

So now I've learned to mark the specification myself, on the gadget, if it doesn't come printed with it. It makes find power supply a lot easier. And I won't risk burning the gadget out with incompatible power supplies.

The photo below shows one of my network switched marked with the electrical specification. This gadget happens to have the polarity printed by the power input. If not, I'd mark that as well. To make the mark as permanent as possible, I resort to the Sharpie Permanent Marker.
