Wireless Garage Door Opener Wall Switch

The house we bought has two garage door openers. The previous owner aren't very subtle with wiring. So it's got wires dangling across the garage ceiling from each garage door opener to the wall switches by the door. Really ugly to say the least. So I've been wondering whether there are products to convert wired wall switches to wireless wall switches. I've been thinking about it for a week.

But you know what? I'm not a fast thinker. I just realized that I can remove the wired wall switches complete and replace them with the same remote controls that came with the garage door opener. I just have to buy some extra ones, pull off the clips, and stick them to the wall with double-sided tape.

I just hope that the garage door openers will work without the wired wall switches. I have never tried it before, but I can't wait to try it tomorrow.

I unconnected the wired wall switches today to test the opener. They still opened and closed with the wireless remote controls. So it's time to buy a couple more wireless remote controls for the wall.

Next question, before I go out and buy a bunch of remote controls . . . How many remotes will the Genie garage door opener recognize? Based on the "FAQ: Programming Genie Garage-Door Opener Products:

"Up to seven remote-operated devices can be programmed into one of the Genie legacy Intellicode garage door openers. That includes a total of seven Intellicode remotes or six Intellicode remotes plus an Intellicode wireless keypad. HomeLink programming would claim one of the available memories if desired. Newer DC units can hold 28 remote devices and newer AC units can hold up to 30.
