LiftMaster 3800 Underpowered: Is There a Way to Solve it?

Help - Need ideas from people that can think outside the box.
We have a LiftMaster 3800 installed to lift our garage door and at first I thought the idea of a jackshaft was brilliant - who would want an overhead motor? But the 3800 seems underpowered to lift our garage door (wood with metal frame construction which weighs about 600 lbs). The garage door company we used to buy and install the door now wants to exchange it with an overhead motor. Lacking the experience I looked online for alternatives but fell short. Is there a jackshaft motor (or alternative) out there that could do the job - or are we stuck with an ugly contraption of metal rails holding the darn motor and drive?

If your garage door is properly balanced, the opener should not have a problem. I have had this opener for about 2 years now with no problems. If you use the disconnect handle on the opener, are you able to open and close the door by hand? The door if balanced properly, should also stay at virtually any point in its travel if you let go, ie. if you open it half way and then let go, it should stay there, as the torsion shaft springs are supposed to hold the weight of the door, not the opener.
