idrive torquemaster opens 1 inch

My idrive torquemaster opens 1 inch, makes a horrible noise (like gears stripping) beeps, then stops. It did this one other time and acted like it didn't have enough power to get the garage door all the way up. I applied some lubrication to the springs and it worked like a charm, but for only a little while. I tried to apply lubrication this time and it didn't work. Any suggestions?

Did you check to see if your garage door is balanced? Wayne Dalton's manual explains the procedure. But here is the gist of it:

1. Disengage the garage door opener.
2. Lift the door up half way. Does it stay at that position when you let go?
3. Lift the door up 3/4 way. Does it stay at that position when you let go?
4. Lift the door up 1/4 way. Does it stay at that position when you let go?

If you answer "yes" to all three questions, then your door is balanced. If your door is not balanced, the first thing to do is to balance your garage door.
