idrive Won't Profile? Check the position of the travel sensor

If your idrive has the same symptoms as the fuse blown problem, but a new fuse won't correct it, try checking he position of the travel sensor. Its the black ring that rides the white threaded OD tube. My door had failed part of the way up due to a broken torsion spring, and it behaved exactly like the bad fuse problem after I replaced the spring. Because the door was moved down manually, with the idrive disconnected, I think the door couldn't profile.

Your mileage may vary. Worked for me. Its a neat little unit, and damned if aint got just the smallest of motors- but its brilliant engineering. Flawed customer support, and poor troubleshooting in the manual, certainly.

When mine went I was bummed to find no one would sell me a new one. Glad I was able to find out what the problem was! :-)

Thanks for the tip. This happened to me once. I think I pulled the emergency latch when the garage door is all the way up. Then I manually moved the garage all the way down and released the emergency latch. The door wouldn't open. Took me a while to figure out that travel sensor is in the wrong position.
