Wayne Dalton 5-Button Keypad with a Liftmaster 3800

So I currently had my Liftmaster 3800 repaired due to cable un-alignment and it's torsion cables nearly snapping in half, and I want to get my Wayne Dalton 5-Button Keypad working. However, I haven't programmed it since 2004, so I don't know if I had any 5-digit pin number put in since then, or if I even programmed it at all! I tried following instructions on several pages, and most tell me to do the same thing:

1) Hit the "Learn" button (purple button), when the light begins to glow, its on "Learn" mode.
2) Set your 5-digit PIN number. The Liftmaster console should make a noise, saying that it's programmed.
3) Wait 5 seconds, and press any key, the garage door should open, and you now have a new 5-digit PIN.

I've reset it several times, and tried this process over and over, and still no luck. Any tips?

Does the Wayne Dalton 5-button remote work with the Chamberlain Liftmaster 3800? They are two different brands . . .
