IDrive Torquemaster problems?

I found your email address after searching on the GearHack site for information on my IDrive problems. You seem informed and helpful with other people and their posts. Hopefully you have the time to respond to this question as well.

Anyway, I'm having problems with a IDrive Torquemaster system installed 1 1/2 years ago. In fact the system has never worked consistently but when it does work, I really like it. Lately the IDrive has developed a mind of its own. It will work (with all remotes and base station) for 1 or 2 operating cycles then seems to shutdown. While shutting down the unit beeps several times and then is completly dead. The only way to get it running again is to unplug it for approximatly 1/2 hour. After plugging back in it will cycle a couple more times and then quit.

When the unit quits we use the manual override to open the door. Door does not bind and opens easily, my wife has no problems with manually opening the door so I assume everything is in balance because it moves so easily.

Is there a quick fix or any suggestions to solve this problem that you could recomend?

Sorry I didn't get to your message until now. I've been out of the country for the past month. Anyway . . .

You can try re-profiling the door and see if that solves the problem. Another suggestion is to try pulling the emergency quick release whenever the problem occurs. Then let go of the quick release. If it works afterward, it means the door got into a binding condition somehow. Love to hear back and trade notes.
