Cutting Plexiglass

Thank you for your information on cutting plexiglass... Luckily I have a table saw, so I will try it first, before resorting to the jigsaw (I'm not sure if I have the right blade.)

I'm installing a new larger headlight on my motorcycle. I have a plexiglass windshield that needs to be rounded out.
Any help would be appreciated.

A very helpful piece! Truly useful information. I have been cutting plexiglas and perspex (Eng. trade name, same stuff) all my life with varying results using an assortment of means and the best method I have found so far was to use a panel cutting blade in a circular saw set to a depth of 1/16, then reset at 1/8th etc. I asked an expert the other day (I have been asking people how to deal with this stuff for years now!) and he told me that the surest method for getting clean straight cuts in plexiglas was to use a table saw with an 82 tooth triple carbide blade. Sadly, this is outside the means of most home crafts folk. The best portable saw I have found for cutting plexiglas to date is the Makita cordless 3&1/2" inch (Blade Dia.) circular saw, using whatever blade has got the most and smallest teeth. In thinking about the jigsaw speed and keeping it at the same constant speed it came to mind if you wired up a dimmer switch to a extention cord so you could maintain the same constant current to the saw it might make the task easier.

But the problem with the scoring knife to cut off a large hunk is that the larger pieces tends to break unevenly.
