cwRsync Does Not Work on Windows Vista
cwRsync is a free rsync software for the Windows operating system. I've been using it to synchronize my data for the past year or so. Today, I have installed it on Windows Vista. But when I try to run it, I have found that it prints an error message. The following is the error message:
rsync: Failed to exec ssh: No such file or directory (2)
Anyone seen this error message and know how to get around it? What are some possible to use rsync on Windows Vista? Is there a cwRsync replacement software that works with Windows Vista?
Ok, I figured it out. Thankfully, cwRsync works just fine with Windows Vista. The problem is its incompatibility with the Windows path environment variable. The following is the path I set for cwRsync:
This path setting works find in Windows Vista. However, when rsync tries to execute, it couldn't find ssh.exe using that path. By removing the double quotes from the path above, as shown below, rsync is able to find ssh.exe again.
At this point, I have no clue why the double quotes would screw cwRsync.
The post at http://www.antidis.com/articles/2005/08/windows-rsync/ may help, as it just served as a solution for me.
