"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file."I had received a very strange error today when I try to executing one of my batch files by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer. I got the following error message: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I am using Windows Vista. And I can execute other batch files in the same directory just fine. This is really strange. Chieh Cheng After posting the message above, I decided to use TakeControl on it. After doing that I was able to execute the script. I'm getting really tired of Vista's permission problems. And it's not just Vista. I see it in all of the new operating systems today that incorporates ACL and DRM, such as Mac OS X and Linux. We have to stop this "jailing" concept. Chieh Cheng
