Accessing the Memory Bay

The dv1227us notebook has two memory slots. By default, they are taken up by two 256 MB, PC2700, 333 MHz, DDR memory modules. You can upgrade them with larger memory modules. To gain access to the memory bay, find two screws with the memory chip symbol next to them (see photo below). Remove the two screws and lift up the panel.

Accessing the Mini-PCI Bay

The HP dv1227us has a mini-PCI bay. By default, the slot is taken up by the 802.11g wireless network adapter. Because there isn't many other mini-PCI cards on the market, accessing this bay is not a real useful exercise.

Nevertheless, With the memory bay panel off, there is a screw located next to the memory modules (see photo below). Remove this screw and the mini-PCI bay panel can be lifted up easily.
