HP Compaq Mini 1000

The HP Compaq Mini 1000 comes with a 10.2-inch screen and looks incredibly similar to the Compaq Mini 700. The looks and specifications on both netbooks are almost the same. Both weigh a little over 2 pounds and are about an inch thick. Yes, the HP Compaq Mini 1000 is a small netbook but reviewers don't feel as cramped on the keyboard as some of the other netbooks they have tried. The petiteness of the netbook and the comfortable writing space creates the perfect journal solution for writers or journalist who need to get their thoughts down at a moments notice.

One interesting aspect of the HP Compaq Mini 1000 is the new Mobile Internet Experience Software and HP Mediastyle that is installed on the computer. The software provides the user the option of playing music, watching videos, reading emails, and browsing the web all through one single interface. The Mobile Internet Experience provides convenience and ease for busy students or professionals with a flashy dashboard interface. This is actually a good point since the typical small screen on netbooks usually doesn't provide sufficient room to have every media application in full view at the same time.

Buyers of the HP Compaq Mini 1000 can choose the system that they want to run on. The choice of operating systems runs between the Windows XP Home Edition or MIE Linux. The choice of operating system also determines the amount of RAM on the computer so the preferred system is the Linux. As far as the specs are concerned, HP used a Via C7-M CPU in their previous netbook but got rid of it and decided that the 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 chip would better meet the needs of the HP Compaq Mini 1000.

There are exactly three models of the HP Compaq Mini 1000 and the models come in standard or designer editions. The designer edition of the computer is called the Vivienne Tam Edition. The Vivienne version was designed for the fashion-conscious user and has a larger hard drive than the standard one. The Vivienne Tam version is named after a designer fashionista who loves the look of flowers and pink on computers. The standard versions look fashionable as well. The lid of the screen is glossy, speckled, and black which looks very modern and creative.

The price on the HP Compaq Mini 1000 begins at $400 for the first two models, but after choosing specifications that will give you great functionality you can expect to pay about $550. The $550 package boasts of decent specs, a Windows Operating System that is pre-loaded with Skype and other applications. Buyers who opt for the Vivienne Tam version of the HP Compaq Mini 1000 can expect to shell out more for the designer netbook. Vivienne's model starts at $700 and goes up from there.
