Asus Eee PC: Netbook for Students

The Asus Eee PC is a netbook designed with the student in mind. Tools like the periodic table and dictionary installed on the netbook clearly marks it as a computer that wants to help kids with their homework. School kids are not the only demographic that the manufacturers of Asus Eee PC had in mind when they decided to create the slim and portable netbook. Adults were also at the forefront of their brains as well. The Asus Eee PC is also designed for the working professional who needs a place to create and edit documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.

The Asus Eee PC comes in five colors; pure white, sky blue, galaxy black, blush pink, and lush green. The netbook was released in the fall of 2007. It was known as the light, little, and cheap computer when it initially hit the marketplace. The screen is typically 7" and barely weights 2.5lbs. The portability and tempting price on the Asus Eee PC makes the netbook a possible purchase of those desiring an inexpensive netbook. The price for the Asus Eee PC runs between $440-$600.

There are pre-installed programs on the Asus Eee PC for email, messenger, and Skype programs that make digital communication a breeze for those who purchase the netbook. The webcam placed on the top of the computer screen makes face to face communication more readily available. One of the really fun features of the Asus Eee PC is the built-in internet radio where users can browse through a myriad of stations and radio lists.

The Asus Eee PC has internet capability similar to the Acer Aspire One; the WiFi is fast, rich, and ready. Another similarity between the Asus Eee PC and Acer Aspire One is that both netbooks run on a Linux System that is Windows XP compatible. Despite the good news on the Asus Eee PC there are also some bad spots to the netbook - in the area of battery life. The Asus Eee PC runs on 4 Cells and will last any where from 3-3.5 hours before it needs a recharge. Users have noted that the computer drains almost 10% of its battery power even when it is completely shut off. The battery drain the computer suffers from haunts both the original and current models even today.

One of the main mottos of the manufacturers of the Asus Eee PC is .easy learning, easy working, and easy playing.. There are over forty built-in applications on the Asus Eee PC that cater to education, work, and games which makes the motto a reality.

One of the pros of the Asus Eee PC is the durability of the computer. Apparently, the computer can withstand freezing weather or even being dropped on a concrete floor. Its ability to withstand trauma makes it a favorite of netbook owners who desire a durable computer they can toss around without worry.
