Troubleshooting: "No xauth data"I ssh into remote hosts using X11 forward all the time. Every once in a while, I'd get the following error message: Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding. I remember this was caused at one point by one remote host shift one hour due to daylight saving adjustment, while another host had not. But I don't believe that is happening today. How do I go about troubleshooting this error message? Chieh Cheng I just had this trouble again today. And it was frustrating, because I couldn't solve it, even after deleting .Xauthority file. So I decided to relax and do something else. After about 10 to 15 minutes, I tried again and it worked fine. Got a messages that said it created a new .Xauthority file: /usr/X11R6/bin/xauth: creating new authority file /home/woody/ccheng/.Xauthority Hmmm . . . still have no idea what caused the problem in the first place and how to resolve it without waiting.
