Remove Dash's "Type your command" Overlay on Ubuntu 12.10Lately, I've been using Ubuntu 12.10 over UltraVNC on Windows quite a bit. One trick I learned is that I can bring up the Dash taskbar by pressing Alt-F2 (see "Ubuntu: Revealing Dash Without the Mouse"). But every once in a while, I'd get a "Type your command" overlay on the screen (see screen shot below). Once it's there, I couldn't get rid of it. After playing with it over the period of several days, I finally found out it's simply the "Alt" key that toggles it on and off. So next time you get stuck with that overlay, just press the "Alt" button to get rid of it. Jake Thanks man this pissed me off so much! Eli thanks Gregory Yah, I felt the pain with Ubuntu 13.04 as well. This tip solves the problem. Mel Thanks, that thing was bugging the heck out of me. Anybody know if this is a known bug? roger
