Overwatch: The Only Tips You Need to be a Yeti Hunter

Never played Mei or Winston before, figuring out the Yeti Hunter arcade game mode took quite a while. I decided to write this quick guide for beginner and seasoned players. Because even after reading some web pages on how to play this game mode, it didn't help me as a newbie. This guide is for Yeti Hunter. If you are looking for the Yeti guide (which I will write later), check the "TrackBack" section below.

First of all, in this game mode, there are five Yeti Hunters (Mei) hunting a single Yeti (Winston). The objective for the Yeti Hunters is to kill the Yeti before Yeti kills five Yeti Hunters.

The Yeti's health bar is centered on top of the screen underneath "HUNT THE YETI". When this bar is depleted, the Yeti dies and the Hunters win.

The number of Yeti Hunters' lives is on the top right of the screen under "TEAM LIVES". Hunters start with five lives. When this number reaches zero, the Yeti wins.

Mei's Endothermic Blaster provides two modes of operation. Left mouse button shoots freeze ray at short range. Using this freeze ray on the Yeti will slow it down and freeze him. But it does no damage. The right mouse button shoots icicles at medium range, which causes damage to the Yeti. Use the freeze ray at close range to slow and stop the Yeti. Use the icicles at medium range to eventually kill the Yeti.

Underneath the "TEAM LIVES", you'll see "MEAT EATEN BY YETI". When the Yeti collects four meats scattered around the map, he becomes enraged. You'll see
"RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!" flashing on the center of your screen. You can't kill the Yeti while he is enraged. So run and hide somewhere until the timer bar runs out.

Keep watch on how many meats the Yeti has eaten. If it has eaten four meats, it's best to stay away; most likely, it's close to the fourth meat, waiting for the hunters to converge. Kind of like waiting to eat the power pill when the ghosts converges in old-school Pac-Man. You'll only want to close it on it when it's away from the fourth meat. If it's close to the meat, it's best to hide and let the Yeti waste its power up.

Playing as a Team

The Yeti starts in its cave at the beginning of the game. So at the start of the game, run toward the other end of the map and comb the map. Whenever one hunter sees the Yeti, it will "mark" the Yeti for the other hunters. Converge on the Yeti to take him down.

Once the Yeti is spotted, All hunter should converge on the Yeti. The short range hunters should freeze the yeti while the medium hunters should shoot it with icicles.
