Left 4 Dead on a Laptop

I had a chance to try Left 4 Dead on my laptop today, which is a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6119us with a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150. At first, the graphics was completely messed up and unplayable. After trying different video settings I found that you have to disable "WAIT FOR VERTICAL SYNC".

That setting is in Options -> Video -> Advanced Settings. The rest of the setting you can set as you wish. But the game will be faster with less fancy graphics. And lower resolution makes the game more playable.

I play on my laptop with no graphics problems, although I do know people like that who have problems. Best thing to do is turn of anti-aliasing, because it takes a lot of gpu power, and vertical sync, because it makes you lag even if you don't see it. Vertical sync is a huge factor in games like CS 1.6.

With the graphics setting completely lowered to the lowest level, the game looked like a cartoon. There was no darkness of a . . .
