League of Legends Should Eliminate Chat Altogether

I remember the days when Riot has enabled chatting among all the players on both teams. That created a lot of hostility and encouraged toxic communication. Riot has, since then, eliminated the ability to chat between the two opposing teams. And toxic chats has gone way down. In fact, based on my experience, it reduced bickering among teammates as well.

But I feel that Riot should go one step further. And that is to eliminate chatting altogether. Currently, when you play on a random team. Most good and mature players avoid chatting at all. Because it's too easy for the communication to go sour. It's better to stay quiet and avoid communication. But I have seen many cases where random teams would start bickering, because the team is losing or the playing styles don't match. Only a few times did communication foster team work.

In my eyes, the ratio of successful communication vs. bickering is far too low for the chat system to be useful. It really just stresses everyone out. I personally think game play would improve if there is no way for random teammates to chat. This way, only pre-made team can chat via external communication methods, such as TeamSpeak, Mumble, or Steam chat overlay.

My friend offered an alternative solution. Only allow winning random team to chat. Losing teams cannot chat. Personally, I think it's difficult for an automated LOL client to determine the winning team, because I've seen the "losing" team win the game way too many times. But he feels that "winning" should be based on higher kills, because usually the team with the higher kills will not bicker.

Anyway, I still don't see any reason for chatting among random team members to occur. It just encourages trash talk and other non-productive gestures. There are too many foul mouths. What do you guys think?
