League of Legends: No Lag on 4G Tethering
In San Francisco with a HP Pavilion dv6-3050us Entertainment Notebook, Google Galaxy Nexus, and League of Legends (LOL). The Google Galaxy Nexus is unlocked and has the capability to provide portable hotspot (WiFi). The T-mobile 4G is astounding in the city. So the next logical thing to try is playing League of Legends while the computer is tethered to the phone's WiFi hotspot.
At home, on the Verizon FiOS network, ping is around 15 to 30 ms. On the T-mobile 4G network, ping ranges from 125 to 160 ms. Playing custom games with bots presented very little lag. Only lagged out once in the entire game. Next, I tried playing against AI with other real players. There was no lag at all. Finally, we played PvP and still experienced no lag. It's a real solid combination when you have to game while traveling.
