Battlefield 2142: more than 16 bots in single player mode

Patching the Battlefield 2142 to support up to 64 bots in single player mode is easy and as simple as Battlefield 2's method.

All you have to do is update "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\AI\AIDefault.ai" with the following:

  aiSettings.overrideMenuSettings 1
aiSettings.setMaxNBots 64
aiSettings.maxBotsIncludeHumans 0

You have to add the first line. And the maximum bots include humans must be 0. Therefore, if you would like even teams on both sides, set an odd number for maximum number of bots, such as 31 or 63.

After loading Battlefield 2142, start any single player map. The map size is still limited to 16 players, but you'll have tons of bots on the map.

When I try to save the new file it says the file is either read-only or another user has it open. What do I do? How do I "update"?

Make sure Battlefield 2142 is not running. If it is running, it might have a lock on the file. If it's not running, right click on the file, click on "Properties", and make sure that "read-only" is not checked.
