Windows Won't Copy-and-Paste with rdesktopI remote desktop into my Windows computers a lot. Sometimes I use rdesktop 1.6.0 on Linux to do so. Lately, I noticed that copy-and-pasting stopped working. I found a work-around for this problem. It seems that sometimes the "rdpclip.exe" process starts and causes this problem. If you kill off this process, copy-and-paste will work again. Open up "Task Manager" by right-click on the task bar. Select "Task Manager". Click the "Processes" tab." Find "rdpclip.exe" in that list. Right-click on it. Select "End Process". Click "Yes" to the warning dialog. Copy-and-paste should work after these steps. Chieh Cheng The problem and fix I documented above applies to Windows XP. However, I just recently upgraded the same system to Windows 7 and the same problem and fix works on it as well. Chieh Cheng Killing and restarting rdpclip.exe does not work for me on CentOS 5, with Windows XP_x64, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2003 & 2008. Ken Re-reading my original post, I noticed that I wasn't particular clear that the RDPCLIP.EXE process must be restart (after killing it) in order for copy-and-paste to work again. Killing the Remote Desktop session and logging in work, because when ever you start a new Remote Desktop session, it starts RDPCLIP.EXE. But this is more painful to do than restarting RDPCLIP.EXE manually. To make your life even easier, I've written a "Restart RDPCLIP" batch file that kills and restarts the RDPCLIP.EXE process for you. You can either double-click it to run, or put it into "Task Scheduler" to run periodically. Please download this batch file from the link above. Chieh Cheng
