Windows Vista Shows a Switch on Network MapWhy does my network map in Vista show a switch between a laptop and a router, there no physical switch there? Why doesn't it show on the other laptop thats also running vista? What is this switch? Can I get rid of this switch on the network map? Is this some sort of virtual switch or firewall? Attached Image: Edward lll How do you connect your two laptops to the router? Are they using wireless network connection? Or are they connected via a Ethernet cable directly to the router? Chieh Cheng The one that shows no switch is usually wireless. The one that shows a switch is sometimes used wireless and sometimes used via a ethernet cable, and was wireless when the switch was discovered and shown to me my someone else on the same private network. Edward lll I have it here too... The common thread is that the switch appears on the wired computer heading into a wireless router.... Tom
