Using a Windows 98 Computer as a Remote TerminalQuite some time ago, I wrote an article titled, "Older Computers Serve Well as Remote Terminals", on this site. In that article, I used ancient computers, running Windows XP, to access faster remote computers. That is quite possible with the Remote Desktop Connection that came bundled with Windows XP and Windows Vista. So when I bought the Intermec Norand 6642 pen tablet computer off eBay, I had no fear that it would be able to access remote computers using the same concept. The only problem is that it runs Windows 98 Second Edition, rather than Windows XP. Luckily Microsoft provides the Remote Desktop Connection software for free to download on its web site. (I'll provide the link in "Related Links" below). And even better is the fact that Remote Desktop Connection works on Windows 95, Windows 98 and 98 Second Edition, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows 2003. I am happy to report that Remote Desktop Connection runs extremely well on Windows 98 Second Edition. It is extremely fast with no speed issues. And it's solid as a rock; no crashes or glitches whatsoever. Chieh Cheng
