TightVNC Viewer "Server:port" ConfigurationWhen connecting to multiple servers using TightVNC Viewer, it's easy to mistype a server name or port–especially when you're in a rush or juggling multiple remote sessions. And just like UltraVNC, TightVNC remembers every entry you make. That includes typos, outdated addresses, and yes, even passwords if you've saved them. The viewer history becomes a cluttered mess over time. Fortunately, TightVNC is just as transparent under the hood. After some digging, I found where it stores its connection history–and better yet, how to clean it up. Where TightVNC Stores Server HistoryTightVNC keeps its configuration data in the Windows Registry. Specifically, the server list and viewer settings are stored under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TightVNC\Viewer You can access it via Registration Editor (regedit.exe). Once inside the "Viewer" key, you'll find entries like:
These can be edited or deleted to clear out unwanted history. Just be cautious--editing the registry can affect how TightVNC behaves, so back up the key before making changes. Cleaning Up the MessTo remove old or incorrect server entries:
If you've saved passwords and want to clear those too, look for the "Password" value. It's encrypted, but deleting it will force TightVNC to prompt you again next time. Pro TipIf you prefer not to edit the Windows registry, TightVNC also supports command-line parameters and configuration files for launching sessions. This can help you avoid relying on saved history altogether. Jaz
