Turbo Battery Mode on MSi Wind U100-279USJust got my MSi Wind U100-279US last night. It's a very nice notebook. I'll be ready to post my first impression soon. On the sticker by the touchpad, I see "Turbo Battery Mode". What is it? Does it extend the battery life twice as long? Or does it use the battery twice as fast? hmmmm . . . Chieh Cheng It let's you underclock...how do I do that??? Paul with BIOS v1.06 (probably what you have now), you can hit Fn F10 to underclock. the power LED should turn amber. this should work even if you're not connected to the power outlet. with BIOS v1.09, the underclock feature doesn't seem to be available anymore. Fn F10 overclocks the CPU by 8%/15%/24%, depending on the BIOS setting "DOC %". this only works if you're connected to the power outlet. also under OSX, this has to be done when you see the MSI logo during POST, otherwise, it doesn't do anything. windows doesn't have this limitation and shows you some on screen graphics to let you know it's overclocking when you press Fn F10. yeah, i don't know why they called this turbo battery mode... David At first, I couldn't figure out why pressing Fn-F10 doesn't do anything on my MSi Wind. Then I realized that it's because I am running on AC power. Once I unplugged the AC Power, the Turbo Battery Mode works like a charm. I have BIOS version 1.06. Attached below is a screen shot of what the processor is running at normally. Chieh Cheng The following screen shot shows that the processor runs at 800 MHz in Turbo Battery Mode. The screen also dims and the power setting changes to "Max Battery". Chieh Cheng I hope that first trick works! I'm running Linux (Ubuntu) and the fn+f10 button doesn't work when the OS is loaded. Scott
